New Executive Committee elected in online AGM Print E-mail

 The Regional Executive Committee held its first-ever online Annual General Meeting 11 December 2009 and elected a new Executive Committee with Sheila George as the President, Rebekah Chevalier - Vice President, Jean Robinson - Secretary and Basilio Monteiro - Treasurer.  In September 2008, over one hundred ecumenical volunteers from across the U.S.A. participated in an ‘action-oriented’ media study, undertaken by WACC- North America. As part of WACC’s mission to actively promote communication for social change, this project is part of its world-wide campaign “Communication is Peace – Cultures for Peace” – working towards creating ‘cultures of peace’ on a local and international level.

Documentary from El Salvador to be screened in USA Print E-mail

El Salvador will feature in the XIV Festival of Ibero American Cinema in Boston, USA, with the docudrama Colima directed by Salvadoran Oscar Orellana. It was produced by the Audiovisuals department of the José Siméon Cañas Central American University (AUCA) and supported financially by WACC under its programme 'Communication for Peace'.

WACC announces four new Honorary Life Members Print E-mail

WACC is pleased to announce that four outstanding communicators have agreed to become Honorary Life Members of the Association, three among them from USA. This brings to only 19 the number of members acknowledged through Honorary Life Membership.

The Honorary Life Membership is awarded by WACC’s Board of Directors to communicators who have served WACC, religious communications and the cause of communication rights throughout their careers and whose work is characterised by dedication, integrity, and achievement.

Registration for the global Religion Communication Congress 2010 is now open. The once-a-decade multi-faith forum of all levels of communicators of religion will be held in Chicago, April 7-10, 2010.

WACC Secretariat will collaborate with WACC North America in presenting an information booth, a dinner and other initiatives at the Congress.

 WACC North America hosted a free screening of "Reel Bad Arabs: How Hollywood Vilifies A People", a documentary, featuring acclaimed author and media critic, Dr Jack Shaheen who attended the screening held in Boston, Massachusetts, March 26.
